. ♪ >> my father, perry phillips, was the choir director here. started at the concert 43 years ago. ♪ >> as a way for the wildfire to present deliver carols -- as a way for the choir to deliver carols to the public. >> when i died, i was asked if i would continue to produce it. my father did 21 years an i've done 20. people -- and i've done 20. people look forward to it and it starts the season. >> it's a way to showcase some of the great talent in our own community right here in our backyard. >> it's always excellent to come together to a community and to sing with all different religions and all different types of music. it's really good. ♪ >> even if you speak different lanks -- lanks, lank -- languages. >> and their friends come, too. it's an opportunity to see our cathedral. >> it's amazing. >> the first time i saw it, it was just incredible. it's very ornate and decorative. >> i constantly get the feedback from people that say how much they appreciate it and that 2 really -- it's -- it's become a tradition. it gets their season started.
